I often feel that my fragrance journey is rather an interesting one. Most women watch their mums apply fragrance when they are little and pick up their cues from there. My mum was never one to wear fragrance. So never I thought I needed to wear fragrance, until I started doing my masters.
One day at business school, a guy friend and I were deeply engrossed in a conversation about a project we were working on, when he suddenly stopped speaking, turned around and blindly followed a woman who was passing by. When he returned 5 minutes later, he said that he had to follow her because she smelt so good. I asked him how I smelt and he said, ” You? You have no smell.” That’s when it hit me, I had never thought of wearing a fragrance up until that point in my life. From that day, I spent the next 6 months trying to buy various fragrances on a student’s budget, making up for lost time. I remember the first fragrance I ever could afford to buy was a Carolina Herrera 212 Sexy.
After I graduated and moved to London, I started working in marketing in the beauty industry. Suddenly, fragrances were all around me. However, from then on, my personal taste in fragrance was irrelevant. I wore the fragrances I got at work, I liked them and dint feel the need to really explore other scents.
My job taught me a lot about fragrance: how it was made, the notes, how to layer different scents, etc,. However, since I mainly wore the fragrances from the brand I worked on, my taste in fragrance had not really developed.
Also, after a while, I dint really enjoy the feeling of wearing fragrance at all as it felt like a part of work even if I wore it on a Saturday morning.
It was then that,?I decided that I would explore other fragrances too and it wasn’t until I came across Aerin fragrances towards the end of 2013, that I truly had a favourite. There is just some thing about all the fragrances from Aerin’s range that clicked with me. Rather than giving you a whole low down on the various notes in the various fragrances from the range,?I’ll just tell you how I feel when I wear Aerin fragrances- elegant, pretty and effortless.
I think trying different fragrances from Aerin taught me to identify the notes I like. I learnt that I mainly liked fruity and floral notes. My favourite notes are jasmine, lilac, bluebells and orange blossom. I also like amber which is a woody scent.
My current favourite fragrances are Aerin Amber Musk, Lilac Path and Ikat Jasmine. I am loving Jo Malone’s Wild Bluebell, Peony and Blush Suede and Narciso by Narciso Rodriguez.
Most of these fragrances are floral, but they are still extremely unique and I get compliments on each and every one of these fragrances, every time I wear them.
What is your fragrance journey like and what is your favourite fragrance? I’d love to know.

I’ve actually been on a fragrance journey since last October. Like yourself, no one around me was really into perfume when I was growing up. But I’ve been trying several samples to try to get a feel for what I like.
That’s funny about your coworker! I don’t think I really have a scent either. I’d love to find a signature scent so I’ll be sure to check out Aerin!
Nice products never try that but they are in my wishlist now

I’ve been wanting to wear fragrances to be memorable as well, but I always forget to buy some haha. One that caught my attention once, though, was also the Narciso Rodriguez perfume <3
Thanks for the recommendations! I’ve been a lover of Burberry since I can remember (probably since highschool!), but it would be good for me to try something new ๐
I have always wanted to try out Burberry fragrances. Next on my list of things to try!

I love these!
My fragrance journey has been a new thing for me too. I grew up loving that CK scent everyone was obsessed with one time I think, haha. My mom loves a good rose scent but for these few years, she has been obsessed with Ajmal’s Entice which is a Dubai-based perfume label, if I’m not mistaken, hehe. And I’m using Raindrops, also from Ajmal but I find that even though I love the scent, it can be pretty intense, so I spray it in the air, and walk through the mist instead. I have a thing for sweet scents but not too sweet it gets disturbing. Thank you for sharing your fave fragrances, I’ll check them out! =D xo
Yeah, Ajmal is a Dubai based brand. I must admit, I have never tried them out though. I always thought they would be too strong. However, I love your idea of walking through the mist! Sounds magical, will definitely try it out!

You are so fabulous! I love the backstory to this entire blog post about fragrances! I would love the opportunity to meet you one day! I have not tried any of these perfumes before but when I head to Sephora next time I definitely want to take a sniff. I am more of an essentials oils kind of gal! But, I would like being introduced to new scents!
