Happiness. How does one define this?
It is a funny questions isn’t it? Yet when happy, you never think of happiness, only in tough times.
A few months ago, when I visited L.A. I walked all morning from my hotel on Hollywood Boulevard to Melrose, only to find that no shops open before 1pm on Melrose on Saturdays. So there I was standing in a city still asleep at 10am. A kind lady pointed at the flea market on the corner of Fairfax and Melrose, as it was the only thing that I could get into at the unholy hour of 10am on a Saturday morning. Inside I met a young couple that owned a little stall that made custom jewellery. Their pieces were really beautiful and I decide to buy a chain neckless with a plate. When the girl asked me what I wanted written on it, I couldn’t think of anything. The only word that came to mind was ‘happiness’.
A few weeks later, back in Dubai, I was walking back to my car after buying lunch when lady in the parking lot stopped me and asked me the time. After which, she started crying and said she was actually there to look for a job. If she dint find a job, she would have to go back to her home country in Africa. She also said she hadn’t had eaten for two days. I felt really bad and gave her the soup. She looked genuinely happy and thanked me. A second later she asked me is your name happiness? I almost thought this was too sappy for that moment when I realised that she was reading what was written on my necklace and made me chuckle and made me happy!
So there it is, happiness. It is different to everyone. ?I am going through a meh phase at the moment, am I wishing for real happiness right now? You bet, and I know I’ll find it one day. Until then its namesake around my neck will have to do.

A cute and beautiful little post. Happiness is already within you when you thought of the word in the first place, not that you are longing for it, but you are looking to enhance what you already have from within you. I believe that once you think of something you’ll put your mind to it and make it happen, and it will only be soon before you know it. ๐
Have yourself a fabulous day mademoiselle belle! ๐

There is nothing that can make you feel happy than helping the needy. Specially when it is the person who is starving. Like plenty of food is wasted every hour and how on earth, can a person be starving, thinking of this breaks my heart!
Btw where did your buy that necklace from? ๐

This is such a touching story Deepti, so kind of you to give that woman your soup. Plus that necklace is gorgeous, perhaps a blessing that all the shops in Melrose were closed otherwise you wouldn’t have this lovely necklace and such a nice memory from it either ๐ I really enjoyed this post xx

What a nice story! Happiness is hard because I think it’s fleeting. I think happiness comes and goes in moments. Have you ever seen the animated movie Inside Out? I would recommend it! It kind of shows how some days will be mostly happy, some mostly sad, but each day has a little of both. Hang in there girl! ๐
