When my boyfriend proposed to me back in June 2014, it all felt very surreal.
I will be honest, I was overjoyed at first, but that quickly turned into an overwhelmed panic when I realised that I only had 8 months to plan a wedding with a guest list of 800 people! However, over time and realising that all successful wedding planning comes with an excel crash-course, I now feel like I have a lid on most things.
The engagement period is one of the best periods of ones life, however it is also one of the toughest periods. Most brides have their ‘bridezilla’ moments. I have certainly had mine; I would be lying if I said I dint. But I only realise now that it is because we spend our whole lives, until the time someone actually proposes, obsessing over every little detail of the perfect fairy tale in our head. The truth is, it doesn’t matter whether the napkins have a cream lacing or a gold lacing, What truly matters is that you take this time to reflect on your relationship so far and think of how you envisage your future to be together.
30 days from now, I will officially give up my title as a single woman and will become a Missus from Miss. How do I feel? Excited, nervous and a little anxious but very happy.
Sharing my life with someone has been one of the greatest joys of my life and I cant wait to enter this new phase of my life.
Do you have any pearls of wisdom to share with me?
